With heart, faith and steel
With heart, faith and steel. – Ramirez (Highlander 1986)
As I moved around the practice field last night I could feel chunks of rust fall off my person. It has indeed been a while since I worked with a rapier and at times I felt like I was moving through molasses. Still it was a joy to get back into it. I need to work on my basics which is a foundation of most things. I kept my attacks simple (for most of the night) but I did try a few different wards to some success.
Everyone I fought with last night are exceptional fencers and it took a lot of well luck to score hits on them, it sure wasn’t skill. I did score a few hits so I was happy with that. My gear should be arriving soon so I won’t have to use the loaner gear any more, which will help as well. I am looking forward to owning my own rapier again. Cant wait till next week.
