More Space Marine Codex Rumors
Those interested in Warhammer 40k will notice that the rumors of the new Marine codex abound. As we get close to the release I imagine more and more will appear. I know there is a lot of interest being generated in my gaming group over the release, rumors and news.
“Command Squads
- Command Squads may only be taken for Captains (one per Captain).
- There is no sergeant option as the entire squad are veterans.
- The Company Champion is an optional upgrade character. The basic squad is 4 veterans and 1 Apothecary.
- Basic weapons are chainswords and either bolters or pistols.
- Any squadmember can replace his pistol or sword with: storm bolter, flamer, plasma gun, meltagun, combi-weapon, power sword, powerfist, lightning claw, or thunder hammer. Pistol may be replaced with a plasma pistol. Melta bombs and storm shields can be taken by anyone.
- The squad may be upgraded to ride bikes.

We shall see soon enough how many of these rumors and true and which ones are fantasy. (rumors from BOLS)
Space Marine Spearhead on its way
Well looks like we have more news on the Warhammer 40k front. The new Space Marine codex is due out soon so Games Workshop will release a spearhead box set to hearald its arrival. According to GW for $244 you get the following
“This box set contains: one 144-page Codex: Space Marines, one multi-part plastic Drop Pod, three multi-part plastic Scout Bikes, five metal Sternguard Veterans, five metal Vanguard Veterans, one metal Thunderfire Cannon, one metal Sergeant Telion, One metal Sergeant Chronus, one metal Pedro Kantor and one metal Ultramarines Captain Sicarius.”
I am pretty excited about the drop pod. Its is really about time GW has come out with that model as I was never really interested in shelling out for a Forgeworld model. I am not really interested in this spearhead others have been a lot more interesting. It does appear its a bit of this and that, new models all thrown into a box set. If you want to build a new Marine force I would pick up a couple of the new Assault on Black Reach box sets. That box is going to contain-
“This boxed game contains a 112-page Rulebook, a 33-page Getting Started booklet, Dice, Templates, Range Rulers and almost 50 Citadel miniatures, including: a Space Marine Captain, 10 Tactical Space Marines, Five Space Marine Terminators, a Space Marine Dreadnought, an Ork Warboss, 20 Ork Boyz, five Ork Nobz and three Ork Deffkoptas”
At $60 a box , considering its $50 fot 1 Dred, its a fantastic price.
