40K Imperial Guard Rumors

The winds of a new codex is in the air and it appears that we shall be seeing a new Imperial Guard codex this spring. Date appears to be most likely in may with a bunch of new plastics to follow.

From BOLS

Codex
The IG Codex is slated for release in the first week of May.

There is a new HQ choice referred to as a “Fleet Officer”. This fine chap gives you access to different types of orbital bombardments every turn. There are other officer “types” to select from that give other abilites including a Commissar Lord.

Models
New Commissar Lord is available as a new HQ choice with dual models.

Plastic Command Squads; Cadians and Catachans are said to both be getting plastic command squads.

Infantry Squad Recuts; Infantry boxes are rumored to be repackaged as 2 sprues containing eight guardsmen and a single heavy weapon team in each box; similar to what was done to the Eldar Guardian kits.

Plastic Stormtroopers are on the way.

Plastic Valkyrie is on the way. This is said to be a transport option for the Stormtroopers and possibly other select squads. Kits have been visually spotted. The Valkyrie will be interesting as it is said to be a skimmer only in the codex. The idea is that flyers never exist in “straight 40k” so the Valkyrie keeps its flyer/skimmer modes as published only in Apocalypse. Price is said to be £35/US$50, and the kit is fairly large (roughly Land Raider sized)

GENERAL RUMORS
-No more doctrines
-Tanks will be in squads
-Many special charaters that will provide army wide rules like those in new SM codex
-Chimera and Hellhound might come in one combo boxed set
-Troop squads may be in the pricerange of 200Pts for 45 Guardsmen
-Many new models

MODEL RUMORS (only a sampling)
-Leman Russ multi-variant all plastic kit
-Hellhound updated
-IG Command Squad plastic kit

Lizardmen against the world

We are about to start a escalation league at my local store up here in Virginia so I decided to get some really needed practice. Normally I have been fielding my dwarves (on occasion my Bretonnian’s) however with the new book I decided to take out my lizardmen for the first time since 5th edition.

I got to play 2 games, my first oppponent was a new Chaos Mortal army. Although I did have troops on the table at the end of the game it was a slaughter. The new Knights and foot troops decimated my poor lizardmen. My skinks killed hounds and my terradons a unit of Marauder cavalry but for the most part I could not touch his Knights and foot troops.

My second game I battled a more traditonal army. I face another Lizardman army and this turned out a lot better. Most of my luck came from really good rolls on my part, and poor ones on my opponents but at the end I only lost about 300pts compared to 600+ I inflicted. A minor win.

I look forward to fielding the Lizardmen some more, and we shall see what the new book has instore for this army.

Update: Lizardmen – new photos

I am pretty excited about the new lizardmen. Although recently I have been playing my Dwarves and Bretonnians I have an anicent Lizardman army collecting dust. We should be seeing more of them in the next couple of White Dwarfs but the new figures have appeared on several gaming tables.

The new lizardmen were seen marching recently, thanks to the community by The Ammo Bunker’s jasevx.

40K New Baneblade Kits

A new kit for the Bandblade appears to be coming out in March. Soon you will be seen variants such as ShadowSwords and other Heavy types.

Things to note: (from the Ammo Bunker, thanks for the pics)
A – New rear engine panel c/w
B – detail that you don’t see with the superstructure in place combined with…
C – detail on the back of the superstructure that you don’t see when in place…
giving the impression that you can mount the superstructure forward with the tranport behind (so that the bits detailed will then be visible)
D – Main weapon, in three parts and can be broken down to form two different weapons, Also the front panel is detailed on the underside, flip it over and it should be perfect bit to form the base plate to the troop compartment.

Games Workshop’s 2009 Circuit Events

The Games Workshop Tournament Circuit is about to begin for 2009. Pretty exciting games took place in 2008 so looking forward to the near years gaming season. Be sure to check out the GW Community development blog  for information and updates.

Our Tournament Circuit is intended to showcase to great independent events that are scattered across the US. In 2008 (our second year) we added the Quake City Rumble, The Big Waaagh!, and The Alamo events alongside Adepticon and The Necronomicon (returning from the 2007 season). All of these events went above and beyond the standards they’ve set in previous years, and even added some great new elements (like the Redneck Rampage 40K Indy GT at The Big Waaagh!). We managed to attend almost all of the events and write-ups from the team can be found on our Community development blog.

The 2009 GW Tournament Circuit promises to be even greater. All of our existing independent partners are with us again, and we’ve invited five more independent events to join us. Here’s a short run-down of the independent events for 2009.

Whats in your game?

Ok I swore I wasnt coming back. I made promises to a number of people blowing off the whole game. Sure there were many new and interesting games out there and no real reason why to switch back, except well I was bored with the other games in a less amount of time.

What the heck am I talking about, yep I am playing World of Warcraft again. Not to say I didnt have fun playing Warhammer Online or Lord of the Rings (which I might go back to, Moria does look cool) but there is a comfort level in Warcraft that I didnt have in the othe two games.

knight

Now I just need to level up my Mage to be able to run in the new ice lands of the Wrath of the Lich King.
