Privateer Press : New game Scrappers

 

Bellevue WA. May 26, 2009—Following the success of their critically acclaimed family card game Infernal Contraption, Privateer Press is pleased to announce Scrappers, a family board game for 2–4 players ages 9 and up. In Scrappers players take on the role of lively goblin mechanics as they race around a factory trying to pull parts off a constantly moving conveyor belt in order to complete their contraptions. Featuring stunning full-color artwork from Privateer Press artist Chris Walton, Scrappers is scheduled for worldwide release in September 2009, and will feature English, Italian, German, Spanish, and French translations.

“The game features fast, intuitive game play that takes only minutes to learn, but presents a strategic depth that will challenge both new young players and seasoned veterans alike,” said Privateer Press Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson when asked about the new Bodgers game, “Add to that the maniacal and zany cast of the Bodgers goblin mechanics and Scrappers is a game everyone will want to play again and again.”

GW June Retail Change US Prices

From the Warstore, below are the price changes that will take place in a couple of days. Most of the items below rose between 10-20% a few to 25% (mostly starter box) the rest below 10% increase. Some armies, especially demons took it on the nose. $30 for a Dwarf bolt thrower is terrible, not sure what GW is thinking.

Today Relic Entertainment announce their new project for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine! This is a world first preview of the first trailer ever released for the game.

Star Trek is not dead Jim

I have been watching Star Trek since I was a wee lad. I have always been a fan but never crossed the line of being obsessed with it. OH I have had many friends that have donned the uniform, did the fan club thing and the like but I never took that route. (I have other vices) Suffice to say after a long list of disappointed Star Trek Movies and spin-offs (I did like STTNG but it did get old after a while) I was hesitant to go see the new movie. I mean the last one which came out in 2002 was well not good.

Back to basics with the original characters was a good idea. After watching years of Picard pontificating about the nobility of man I just wanted to see someone punch someone in the face. Briefly so not to spoil anything, the story begins before our intrepid crew ever sets foot on the Enterprise. Now for those who crave a little bit of action, you won’t be disappointed from the very opening until the end there is quite a bit of it. I will say that only the Wrath of Khan is its equal in action and the new Star Trek movie has taken the place as my favorite. For those who are shocked that people might actually to go Star Trek to see action and its wasn’t Gene Roddenberry’s vision I say poppy cock. The man wrote Kirk after Horatio Hornblower for heaven’s sake. If you don’t know who Horatio Hornblower is, shame on you and head to your local library.( one of my favorite series of books)

Now be aware it stomps hard on holy Star Trek canon so if you cannot take that go see Night at the Museum but meh that’s one of the reasons why people didn’t go to the franchise movies anymore. You needed to know so much background that it was hard to someone walking off the street to just sit and watch. Another movie made in that fashion would not have been made, trust me on this, no one would have touched it with a 10 foot pole.

This rebirth or reboot of the story line is an excellent way to get a whole new generation of people into the story. Ultimately it’s about the crew, their friendship and how they face the dangers of outer space. Enjoy the show it’s a good story and isn’t what’s this is all about. Star Trek is far from being dead.

Post Office Rocks!

ok so I have been buying and trading for gaming stuff for well a long time. For the most part the post office does its job and i have never lost a package in all that time (300+ trades) i had two packages coming from Canada and frankly had no idea where they went. thankfully the other trader had the numbers, great done this before, and it said that they were here and notice had been left. well no, no notices but no matter i would *ack* call them and find out the deal. i of course expected to be stuck in post office voice mail hell. i spoke to the nice computer where it sent me in all sorts of unnecessary directions, finally it asked me what else can i do for you. at that point i was annoyed so i said. “id like to speak to a damn human being.”

WOW was i shocked when it said “You have asked to be send to customer service, one movement when i redirect your call” moments later i am taking to a post office person, very nice, who sent me to local phone number. another post office person picked up the phone and 2 minutes later everything was solved. 2 packages here, come on down and pick them up.

as i said the post office rocks!
