Plague of the old World – Skaven
A race of malevolent rat-men, Skaven hordes spread like a plague throughout the Old World. Their empire spans beneath continents and seas and should they ever rise in a single great swarm, they would overwhelm and enslave the world. – Word of the Skaven (GW)
I have played a number of Warhammer Fantasy armies for the years from Dwarves to Vampires. Some of these armies I have played only a few months (Ogres) while others have I have been playing for well over a decade (err or two) (Dwarfs). I disappeared from the WHFB scene about 2 versions ago, coming back now a year ago picking up 7th. OK so I am a little ADD in that I cannot pick one army to play (Dwarfs are close) Earlier this week after painting up my Daemons I decided to try a new army – Skaven.
Posting how I am doing with my Skaven army will make me do a few things. One hopefully it will get me painting up the rat horde. I have Orcs a good horde army (good is questionable) but I really cant get into painting them. Maybe its playing Dwarves so long but Greenskins…meh. Skaven on the other hand has piqued my interest. I had battled a couple of armies in the last league and tourney and although my Vampire Army destroyed those armies, they were pretty interesting. OK I am not totally new to them. I actually owned a few on one occasion. (white plastic skaven from back in the day) However I had not decided until now to actually collect and play them.
First of all, I have decided to do this without buying any figures if possible. Still not sure how this is going to work out however I do have a ton of stuff that I am currently trading on Bartertown.
Second I have joined The UnderEmpire, which is a great place for any Skaven general to learn about the tricks of the trade.
In the upcoming days, weeks however long it takes I will be posting my journey…..
