New Appearence

One of the interesting things about WordPress is the ability to change the Theme of the room. I liked the old theme but needed a change. Sorry if you have been here this morning and viewed the blog three different ways. I skipped that whole prievew theme thing first, so thanks for sticking around.

WHFB : Collecting Clan Skitter

I have already collected a number of Skaven models, not quite enough to take the field but I am getting close. I also decided that I am going to paint the entire army before I actually use them. I have other projects (IG, Demons etc) and decided that I would rather not slap on some paint and throw these guys on the table. Sure it might take me until the end of the summer to actually play them but I am really in no rush.

One of the things you should do before ever starting to collect a new army is to do a little research. Be sure to pick up the Army book or Codex, you will find most of the information needed to run the army. Army builder is great but nothing beats having the actual book in your hands to read cover to cover. Reading the codex or army book you can also get a feel of the army that you might not get any other way.

Secondly check out the internet forums. For the most part each race and army has a forum out on the internet dedicated to a particular army whether they are Skaven or Imperial Guard. Be sure to ask a lot of questions and take a look at various army lists. Each army has certain combinations that make it successful. Don’t waste your hard earned money by buying figures you will only field once.

Also go ahead and create an army list at different point values. What this will allow you to do is field your troops quicker, plus you will get an idea of what figures you will need to purchase – 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000pts is a great start. If your playing 40K 2000pts might be your top point limit (Apocalypse games are another story) and for Warhammer Fantasy Battle 2250- 2500pts.

Below is a quick 500pt Skaven army.
