GW North American Tournament Circuit

GW North American Tournament Circuit

Games Workshop has announced the 2010 tournament Circuit. The top two winners of each of these events will be invited to a Grandtournament in 2011 in Las Vegas.

Over the years Games Workshop has had a multitude of different tournaments; Grand Tournaments, Rogue Traders, ‘Ard Boyz, Iron Man, Doubles, Campaign Narratives, etc.

Starting in January 2010, Games Workshop will be embarking on something far more Grand. We will search for the North American Champion of 40K, Fantasy, and War of The Ring on an annual basis.

The new Tournament Circuit going forwards will run from June until May each year. The circuit is made up predominantly of Independent Tournaments from around North America which are put on by gaming clubs or groups. The Ard Boyz Tournament Finals can also earn entry into the North American Finals.

In the past the Tournament Circuit has run from January until December. To allow for the above change the first new circuit will be 18 months long starting in January 2010 and ending in May 2011. The Champion for each game system will be decided in the summer of 2011 in Las Vegas at a Games Workshop hosted Event. Here you will need a fully painted and based Army for your particular game system. Check the website frequently for specific rules and point values for the Vegas Finals.

The Vegas Finals are by invitation only. So, how do I get an invitation?

The top two finishing places in each game system in each Independent Tournament on the Circuit will receive an invitation to play in the Vegas finals in 2011.

If you don’t make it into the top two places in one Tournament you can try again in another Tournament on the Circuit.

The first circuit features 70 Events over the 18 months. They have a wide geographical spread across the North American Continent.

We will be looking to expand that number each year. If you have an existing Tournament or are planning a Tournament that you would like to get included on the next circuit starting in June 2011 please email me the details at Eds@games-workshop.com. Your Tournament will have to meet certain criteria and have at least 50 players to qualify for inclusion on the Circuit. A Limited number of additional slots will be available each year.

The Grand Prize Package for the Overall Winner at the Vegas Finals
• Trophy
• 1 Year White Dwarf Subscription
• White Dwarf Article
• Website Article
• 3000 Point Army of their Choice
• Free Gamesday Entry and Model for 2011 including 1 Hour with the Studio Guests

Legion of the Damned – Games Day Italy

from Games Workshop Newsletter

Incoming! Legion of the Damned Today at Games Day Italy we unveiled the all-new metal Legion of The Damned models. The Legion of The Damned are Spaces Marines in appearance. Their black armour is adorned with chilling images of bone and fire, and an eerie glow suffuses their sable armour and a halo of ghostly fire dances about their feet. Considered by some to be an extension of the Emperor’s superhuman will and by others as the vengeful and immortal spirits of fallen Space Marines, Damned Legionnaires fight with a chill precision few mortal warriors can match.

lotd

Out in January, the Legion of The Damned are an Elite Space Marine unit who can always Deep Strike and can even opt to re-roll the deep strike scatter dice. Also, their 3+ saving throw is invulnerable.

Blood Angels Codex Rumors

Rumors are starting about a new GW Codex for Blood Angles right after the Tyranid book is released. Seen on The Bolter and Chainsword

The BA ‘dex is DONE and complete already.

-New conversion kits similar to the ones made for the space wolves. These kits are said to be EXTRAORDINARY (I mean.. beautiful!), with a level of detail similar to that of the models in space hulk (or even better). (PS this seems quite certain, it has been confirmed by my local GW seller, who also stated some big news about BA may be revealed at the italian games day).

SOME informations about the rules

-The codex will allow the player to field a top notch assault army: assault squads will be a troop choice, with options similar to those of the new gray hunters in the SW dex: 2Xspecial weapons and no heavy weapons at all (of course). Sergents will be similar to those of the SM dex (more options: tunder hummer, LC and such).

- a psionic power called “vortex of blood”, or something like that, will give the caster a CC attacks bonus equal to the number of models in base contact (or even in combat radius?! but it would be too powerful..)

-New indipendent characters.

I can’t assure these rumors are true, of course. I just TRIED to translate them in english and posted them here.

Ah, date of release: march, after the tyrs.
